Saturday 11th September 2010 Molten Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division
Leverstock Green (0) 2 Pritchard 56, 62
Kingsbury London Tigers (0) 1 Bettamer 80
at Pancake Lane

Leverstock Green extended their unbeaten league run to five games and climbed three places up the Premier Division table with another win on Saturday at Pancake Lane. This wasn't a performance to compare with Tuesday night's thrashing of Hanwell, but half time sub Lewis Pritchard's two goals were enough to see off visitors Kingsbury London Tigers.

Green manager Steve Heath had several changes forced upon him by injuries, and started with Leo Mullett, promoted from the reserves, on the right side of midfield, and Adam Hallissey on the left side. Lee Bircham was making his first start since returning from injury, and Gareth Tinsley replaced Carl Tasker in goal. There was a bright start when Bill Morgan got on the end of Charlie Gorman's 2nd minute free kick with a looping header, but visiting keeper Valentin Axinte saved. After that, though, there was a long period with little goalmouth action at either end. On 26 minutes Kingsbury went close when Artiomas Barinovas curled a shot just over the angle from the edge of the penalty area.

On 42 minutes there was a great chance for Kingsbury when a threaded pass from Oni Thomas sliced open the Green defence and put Adorito Manuel clean through, but his shot hit the bar. A minute later at the other end Gorman shot over the bar from Hallissey's cross, and in the last minute of the half there was a chance for Hallissey when Louis Austin's cross found him at the far post, but he headed over.

Both sides made a change at half time, with Lewis Pritchard replacing Mullett on the Green side. It proved to be an effective change as Pritchard showed great form. On 51 minutes Bircham's ball down the line gave Pritchard a run at goal, but he shot just wide. On 55 minutes he was clean through again, but his shot was well saved by Axinte. However, a minute later Pritchard was through again. His first shot was blocked by defender Budraitis Nerijus, but Pritchard followed up to win the ball again and smash the ball home from close range to open the scoring.

On 62 minutes the lead was doubled. Steve Hutchins crossed to the far post, where Mark Shadbolt headed back across goal. The ball just eluded Austin, but fell nicely for Pritchard to shoot home his second goal.

Kingsbury were offering a sporadic threat to the Leverstock lead. On 67 minutes Tinsley had to save a long-range shot from Yousef Elterifi, and six minutes later Koye Kekere-Ekun shot into the side netting from a long throw. Green went close to a third on 79 minutes when Gorman's free kick was saved by Axinte, but a minute later they were punished for slacking off in midfield. Paulius Olikauskas played a pass that put Mohamed Bettemer clean through and onside, and Bettemer went on to calmly slot the ball under Tinsley to put his side back in the game at 2-1.

Craig Preston was brought on to shore up the Green side for the closing minutes, but almost added a third goal in the 88th minute when he headed against the post from Gorman's free kick. In the end Leverstock held out through four minutes of stoppage time to claim the win and move up to seventh place in the table. Green now take a break from league action with three successive cup ties coming up, starting with Royston at home in the SSML Challenge Trophy on Tuesday night.
