Tring Athletic (1) 1 Mullins 15
at Pancake Lane

Leverstock Green's amazing run of results continued as Lewis Pritchard struck in injury time to clinch a tenth straight win for Steve Heath's side in Tuesday night's game against Tring Athletic. Leverstock are now just three points behind their Dacorum neighbours and are in with a realistic shout of finishing as high as second in the SSML Premier Division table.

Once again the Green had to do it the hard way as they fell behind early on. In the 15th minute Leverstock had a throw-in near the Tring corner flag which Louis Austin hurled into the box, but as the ball was headed clear, Tring broke quickly. Leverstock were outnumbered at the back and Jason Beck's pass put Andy Mullins clean through down the middle to slot past Gareth Tinsley and put his side ahead.

The goal was not undeserved as Tring had much the better of the opening 30 minutes and had other chances. However, this Leverstock side has demonstrated its powers of recovery time and time again recently, and once again they struck back with a simple goal. In the 37th minute Louis Austin lobbed a ball into the box, and Ben Butler was unmarked six yards out to sidefoot home a first time shot for the equaliser.

Green now had their tails up, and on 40 minutes Butler laid the ball back to set up Lee Stobbs with a shot from 20 yards which rattled the crossbar. A minute later Austin headed just wide from a Lee Bircham corner.

The scores were still level at the break, and the second half again saw Tring make the better start. On 51 minutes Bircham had to head off the line from a Tring long throw, while a minute later a free kick from Mullins went right across the face of the Green goal looking for any touch that would have put it in. The best chance of all came in the 55th minute when Ryan Redford got the better of Bill Morgan to go clean through, but Tinsley came off his line and spread himself to deny Tring's ace striker and keep the scores level.

Adam Hallissey returned to the side after a holiday, replacing Stobbs in the 64th minute. A minute later there was a near miss for Green as an Austin long throw was flicked on, but Dan Griggs' volley flashed just wide. Tring were almost gifted a goal in the 73rd minute. Morgan lofted a pass back to Tinsley, who could only head the ball away, but it went straight to Beck on the edge of the box. Fortunately the Tring forward hit his shot straight at Tinsley.

A second substitution brought Lewis Pritchard on in place of Louis West on 74 minutes. Four minutes later Pritchard had a golden opportunity to put Green in front. Jon Davies made a driving run from his own half to the edge of the Tring box before playing out wide to Griggs, who delivered a low cross into the six yard box. Pritchard came in to meet it, but it came on his wrong foot and ended up bouncing off him away from goal.

The game could have gone either way in a thrilling second half, and neither side really deserved to lose. However, in the third minute of stoppage time, Davies played a ball down the line for Pritchard to chase. Pritchard got to the ball and dummied past Tring defender Steve Smith to give him a free run at goal from a narrow angle. Pritchard cut across goal, and the chance seemed to have gone as defenders closed him down, but he still managed to find space to lash a shot past keeper Tom Vincent, atoning for his earlier miss and sending the Green contingent into ecstacy.

The goal proved to be enough to keep Leverstock's winning run going, and they now have the luxury of four days rest before Saturday's visit to Potters Bar to play Hadley.
