Hadley (1) 2 Margerrison 13, Websdale 52
Leverstock Green (3) 3 Davies 3, Butler 19, Stobbs 45+4
at Potters Bar Town F.C.

Leverstock Green's winning run goes on after another close encounter on Saturday. Three first half goals were enough for a 3-2 win at Hadley that was an eleventh straight victory for Steve Heath's side. The Green remain in fifth place in the Premier Division table, but are now level on points with the two sides above them, Tring Athletic and Royston Town. Remarkably all three sides have the same win-draw-loss record. Second-placed Colney Heath are just three points ahead from a game more, while leaders Chalfont St Peter have already clinched the title.

Green have often had to come from behind recently, but in this match they got off to a great start. Lee Stobbs sent over a cross from the right touchline which was not cleared by the Hadley defence, and Jon Davies pounced on the loose ball to shoot home into the corner of the net for a 3rd minute lead.

The home side struck back ten minutes later with a poor goal from Green's perspective. Some sloppy defending saw the ball given away, and when Lee Websdale's shot was blocked on the edge of the box, the rebound fell for Sam Margerrison, who placed an accurate, if not too hard shot towards the corner of the net. Carl Tasker's view was blocked and he dived too late to stop the ball going in.

Leverstock restored their lead in the 19th minute, with a move that was sparked off by a superb crossfield ball from Mark Shadbolt that put Stobbs away down the right. Stobbs' cross found its way via a couple of heads to Dan Griggs on the far side of the box, and his ball across goal was turned into the net by Ben Butler.

Butler should have added a third goal on 32 minutes when he made a great run through the Hadley defence, but when one-on-one with keeper Adam Robinson, Butler's extravagant attempt to lob Robinson didn't come off, when a simple finish would have probably done the trick. Lewis Pritchard also missed a great chance three minutes into first half stoppage time when Charlie Gorman's pass put him clean through, Pritchard slicing the ball wide of the target. However, there was still more stoppage time for Pritchard to flick on a goal kick to put Stobbs through on goal, and he showed how it is done by slotting the ball into the corner of the net to give the Green a 3-1 half time lead.

The second half was something of a disappointment by comparison. Hadley pulled a goal back in the 52nd minute as the Green defence couldn't clear a cross and Websdale netted in the ensuing scramble.

They almost levelled the score four minutes later when a free kick played into the box caused similar panic, but Gorman scrambled back to clear the ball off the line. The remainder of the half was scrappy, as the Green side looked increasingly tired, and the Hadley side lacked the edge to take advantage.

In the end Leverstock battled their way through to the end with their lead intact, and now face another hectic week of action. On Tuesday night they visit St Margaretsbury, a side on their own winning run of five games, for a league match, and on Thursday night they travel to Oxhey Jets for the St Mary's Cup semi-final.
