Haringey Borough (0) 1 De Anhaia 90
Leverstock Green (3) 4 Preston 7, Davies 24, Austin 36, Hallissey 67
at Coles Park

Leverstock Green bounced back from their disappointing FA Cup exit with a superb win on Tuesday night to maintain their 100% league start. The Green have rarely come away with much from Haringey Borough's Coles Park ground in recent years, but they turned on the style to record a 4-1 win leaving them with nine points from three games played.

Haringey had also made a good start to the season and have a strong side containing several players with a pedigree at higher levels. However Leverstock took the game to them from the start. In the 5th minute Adam Hallissey laid the ball back to Dan Griggs on the edge of the box, and he hit a shot which flew just over the angle of post and bar. Two minutes later Green won a free kick midway inside the Haringey half. Lee Bircham floated the ball into the box, and Craig Preston came in to meet it with a thumping header past keeper Tom How to open the scoring.

On 23 minutes Jon Davies played a great crossfield ball to put Hallissey in behind the defence, but How turned his shot round the post. From the resulting corner, the ball was cleared, but only as far as Davies, who met it with a ferocious shot from 30 yards out that flew past How into to the net to double the Leverstock lead.

It was almost three on 31 minutes when Griggs hit another long range effort that How turned round the post. However, the third was not long in arriving. Mark Shadbolt chipped a cross into the box, and Louis Austin scored with a header which went in off the underside of the bar. The Green led 3-0 at the break and deservedly so on the quality of their performance all over the park.

Haringey knew they would need an early goal in the second half to get back into it, and they piled on the pressure in the early minutes, winning a succession of corners. Richard Worrell was just over the bar with a long-range effort on 53 minutes, and Darrell Cox shot just wide a minute later. On the hour mark Carl Tasker produced a superb double save to deny both Cox and Worrell in quick succession.

Leverstock survived the early onslaught from Haringey, and made a change on 67 minutes with Ben Butler coming off the bench for his first appearance of the season. Within seconds of coming on Butler was involved in the move that led to a fourth Green goal, as he crossed low into the box for Hallissey to slide in and stab the ball home from close range.

Tasker did his best to preserve the clean sheet over the closing minutes, tipping over a header from Cox on 81 minutes, and saving a shot from the same player on 85 minutes. However, in the last minute the ball was given away just outside the box, and Ramon De Anhaia was given too much space to line up a shot through a crowd of players which Tasker couldn't stop, giving Haringey a late consolation goal.
