Hanwell Town (0) 0
Leverstock Green (0) 1 Attfield 90+2
at Reynolds Field

Leverstock Green's remarkable start to the season continued as they claimed their third successive away league win with an injury time goal at Hanwell Town.

It's been far from an easy ride for Green manager Steve Benitez though. He lost another two players from his squad this week, and his already stretched resources were tested even further when two players were involved in a car accident near the Hanwell ground. Fortunately Tobi Akin and Marvin Tabi arrived in time to play, and the side that Benitez put out did him proud. It was an outstanding display of team spirit and 100% work rate, and despite being under the cosh for long periods of the game, the Green held out and went on to snatch the game at the death.

The game started in a heavy rainstorm, which abated after about ten minutes, but ominous dark clouds and thunder and lightning continued throughout the afternoon.

Leverstock looked promising early on. In the 10th minute Akin played a one-two with James Dabbs, but was denied by a great tackle from Oliver Duffy on the edge of the box. Towards the middle of the first half Hanwell started to get on top. Tabi had to head off the line from a Hanwell corner on 28 minutes, and from the resulting corner Kyle Watson headed wide.

In the 30th minute a pass from Terry Smith put Walker through on goal, but Green keeper David Bailey - the fifth keeper used by Benitez this season - saved with his legs. Bailey also saved a shot from George Davis on 37 minutes. Leverstock should have done better from a counter-attack just before the interval. Adiel Mannion broke away and had the chance to square for Akin, but he couldn't get the ball across.

Hanwell continued to have the majority of the chances in the second half. Three players, including Keith Rowlands, had shots in a goalmouth scramble on 52 minutes but two of them were blocked and the last was wide. Three minutes later Charlie Baverstock shot wide after Bailey couldn't hold onto a cross.

Stefan Owen-Edwards replaced Akin on 63 minutes, and on 71 minutes Owen-Edwards was in a good position but his cross went behind the incoming Dabbs.

Six minutes from time Hanwell had their best chance of all when the ball went across the face of goal and Luke Henney came in at the far post looking certain to score, but Bailey denied him with a point-blank save. The Green goal was under threat again in the last minute, but Oliver Duffy hit his shot across goal from six yards out.

A point would have been a great result from this game, but in the second minute of stoppage time Leverstock unbelievably snatched all three. Owen-Edwards played a short corner to Ben Gill, whose cross was not properly dealt with by keeper Keiran Jimmy. The ball dropped for James Attfield, the Green substitute who had only been on the field ten minutes, and was playing his first game for the club. Attfield drilled a low shot from ten yards towards the corner of the net, and the ball went in off the post for a stunning winner.

The result moves Leverstock up to 2nd place in the Premier Division table with nine points from four games. They have two further away trips coming up this week; to Holmer Green for a league match on Tuesday, and Bedfont Sports in the FA Vase next Saturday.
