After a long League campaign lay off, with this being the first league match since 11th November, this was always going to be a case of getting the squad back into the groove.
Whilst many of the players have been kept relatively busy with County Cup & League Cup fixtures, some have had precious little football and the Xmas break didn't help anyone with match sharpness!
Having said all that, Levy started well and kept their shape and tempo well throughout the game, particularly in the first half when they opened up a half time scoreline of 7 nil.
Cally opened the scoring on 6 minutes with a well taken free kick from 25 yards out which was spilled over the line by the Hemel goalkeeper, and she doubled the lead just 3 minutes later with a left foot shot drilled into the bottom right hand corner.
Leigh burst through the Hemel defence on 17 minutes to finish sharply and Chloe headed home the fourth from yet another excellent Pru Squires-Adams corner. On 26 minutes a quick fire move saw Cally thread the ball through to Frankie who passed to Pru who quickly shifted her feet to fire the ball home.
Less than 2 minutes later Ellen Salter cut inside from the left hand flank and fired an unstoppable shot into the right hand corner of the net and on 29 minutes Leigh went on a great run and cut the ball to Pru for a simple tap in.
The remaining period of the half saw several changes in personnel and shape and whilst this acted in disjointing the game it certainly helped in giving all of the squad as much playing time as possible.
The second half was a bit of an anti-climax with Levy kicking down the slope and being dominant throughout it often resulted in a very congested final third with Hemel often having 11 players behind the ball.
Further goals did follow in the second half with Emma setting up Pru for her hattrick on 66 minutes, Anna latching onto a rebounded Laura Bailey shot 15 minutes later and Chloe Williams getting her second of the game with 5 minutes remaining.
Levy could have scored many more goals with more clinical finishing, however this was still a good overall squad performance and served the girls well in the build up to some crucial league and cup games on the horizon.
