Leverstock Green Ladies caused a major upset on Sunday, overturning a two goal deficit to win against league rivals Great Shelford. The Green failed to make an early impact on the game and found themselves two goals down after the hosts used the swirling wind to gain a deserved advantage. However the Green Army fought their way back and were rewarded for their efforts when Lucy Tape netted on 41 minutes to give the Green hope before the interval.

Following the break, Levy emerged a revitalised side and were far too hot for Great Shelford to handle. Strikers Giselle Subryan, Nicola Hollick and Sally Green relentlessly attacked the host's goal and earned a penalty when Green was clearly up-ended in the box. Green stepped up and drove her penalty hard and high in the net to level the scores.

Continued driving runs came from every angle with the momentum now firmly with the Green Army. Left back Sarah Brydon caused major headaches for her right back counterpart, continually bursting forward at every opportunity and finding space along her flank. Eventually Shelford were punished as the ball was threaded through to player of the match Green, who slotted home to give Levy a lead that everyone saw coming. 10 minutes later Giselle Subryan extended the lead attacking from the other flank after latching onto a Green through ball and striking it firmly past a helpless Shelford keeper.

This was a truly spirited comeback from the Green Army who continue to climb up the Eastern Region Premier League having already secured themselves a place in the County Cup Semi-Final. Next week Levy travel to league rivals Haringey where they hope to maintain their 100% record in 2014.
