at Potters Bar Town F.C.

35 days after their last game, Leverstock Green returned to action with an excellent 3-0 away win at Hadley. A series of postponements had left Dene Gardner's side kicking their heels, but they showed little sign of rustiness as they registered their first win of the year and also completed their first league double of the season.

There was another new signing in the starting line-up in Liam Hind, formerly with North Greenford United, and Hind had the chance to deliver a dangerous free kick into the box in the 10th minute after Billy Smith was fouled less than a yard outside the penalty area, however Hind's low driven free kick was cleared by the Hadley defence.

After 30 minutes during which neither side created any real chances, the Green pushed forward and Hind delivered a great cross into the box from the right touchline. Hadley keeper Tom Le Tissier was slow to come off his line for it and Shakir Agada got there first and stabbed the ball past Le Tissier to open the scoring.

The goal seemed to give the Green side a confidence boost and for the remainder of the half they played some very good football. On 34 minutes Billy Smith ran into the box and laid off for Harry Henley, who squared to give Hind a clear sight of goal, but he skied the ball over the bar from six yards. A minute later Dene Gardner went past two defenders as he jinked into the box, and although Le Tissier managed to parry away his shot, the rebound fell for Agada, who looked certain to score but somehow managed to slice the ball wide of the open goal from a couple of yards out.

Leverstock deserved a second goal, and they were gifted a chance to get it in the 40th minute as a rash challenge from Rafaele Kaphouris brought down Billy Smith inside the box. The referee awarded the penalty, and Lee Gardner made no mistake from the spot to send his side into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Billy Smith had picked up a knock in the first half, and lasted less than two minutes of the second half as he limped off to be replaced by another new signing, Callum Wright. However, the Green picked up where they had left off in the first half as they added a third goal in the 49th minute. Hind was involved again as he crossed for Agada, who couldn't get a shot away himself, but laid it back to the edge of the box where Harry Henley met it and coolly drove a low shot into the corner of the net.

The game somewhat petered out after that as Leverstock were assured of the points and their solid backline faced little threat from the Hadley side. Kieron Jimmy only really had one save to make in the game, and that was a smart stop from Dave Pigden in the last minute to maintain the clean sheet. The three points were not enough to move the Green up any places in the table, but they increased the points gap between themselves and the relegation places.

Leverstock's next game is on Friday night when they travel to the Gosling Stadium to face Hatfield Town - the game is on Friday as co-tenants Codicote have a home game on the Saturday.
