Levy Whites finally met their match in this County Cup SF against their senior Ladies counterparts, but not before giving them one of their toughest matches of the season.

The Whites, with an average age of just 17, were kicking down the slope in the first half and really made the most of the advantage by starting really quickly and pressing at every opportunity in the opening 20 minutes and whilst they were given very few shooting opportunities, they certainly dominated the early exchanges and won a lot of the physical battles.

It was actually against the run of play when a goal keeper spillage from a shot on 25 minutes was snapped up by Giselle Subryan to open the lead for the Ladies XI.

The game remained an even encounter for the remainder of the half with chances being few & far between and the half time scoreline was 1-0.

The second half began with the senior Ladies on the front foot and after a period of concerted pressure Sally Green was given just enough room to turn from having her back to goal and score an excellent half volley into the bottom left hand corner for a 2 nil advantage.

As the game wore on the early Levy Whites efforts began to tell and with the Senior XI in the ascendancy they really began to work the ball well and make a tiring Whites side chase the game. With the seniors controlling the game the Whites continued to fight a rearguard action and create the odd break of their own and with less than 8 minutes remaining the Whites took the decision to throw caution to the wind and go three at the back.

Unfortunately the gamble didn't pay off and two late goals on 85 & 87 minutes saw a rather generous final scoreline of 4 nil to the senior side.

Whilst disappointed with the result, this was an excellent committed display by the Whites giving way to a side with an average of 10 years more experience per player, and playing 3 leagues above them in the footballing pyramid and they must now regroup for next weeks League Cup quarter final.

One of Pancake Lane's more unusual fixtures of the 2013-14 season took place today, as Leverstock Green Ladies and Leverstock Green Ladies Whites went head to head in a showdown to fight for a place in the Herts Women's County Cup Final.

Most expected a win for the first team, but it was the Whites' exuberance that was the first to show, and they bravely took the fight to their opponents in the early stages. But whilst they seemed to have the lion share of the possession over the first fifteen minutes, they failed to create any real early chances, although they made sure it was a similar story for the first team, whose only notable threatening move came in the 4th minute courtesy of Gemma Coggins and Giselle Subryan, but no breakthrough was made.

The game really needed a goal, and it was testament to the Whites' strong start that for quite some time, the game looked very much like it could go either way. In fact, the first big chance of the game fell to the Whites, as Cally Salter produced a lovely shot from range, forcing a save from Jessica Devoti.

However, this scare seemed to have a galvanising effect on the first team, and now they really started to impose themselves on the game, with Gemma Coggins causing more and more problems for the defence on the right wing.

Eventually it was Charlene Turturuci who was the provider though when the first goal came, as her long range shot wasn't quite cleared, and Giselle Subryan was on hand to put the first team 1-0 up.

From there onwards the first team had the upper hand, despite valiant resilience from the Whites. The score was still 1-0 at the break, and both teams started the second half in the same fashion in which they had finished the first.

The first team doubled their lead in the 58th minute when the Whites again struggled to clear their lines, and Sally Green struck to take the score to 2-0. It was always going to be difficult for the Whites to get back into it from that point onwards, and aside from a Cally Salter shot that was deflected out for a corner, and another from Francesca Novelli that forced a save, the run of play was very much in the first team's favour.

The victory was put beyond all doubt in the close of the game as Nicola Hollick scored twice in three minutes to take the final score to 4-0, confirming that it would be Leverstock Green Ladies that would progress to the cup final.
