Honours even today in a match which pitted 2nd versus 3rd in the League, in what turned out to be a very competitive game and full of incident.

Levy Green Whites began the game kicking up the slope and took the game to Sandy, although it quickly became apparent that the away side were not only competent across the pitch but also very quick and matched Levy for pace both upfront and at the back.

Chances were few and far between, with Pru possibly having the best of the Levy opportunities and Leigh Burrows at the back having her hands full with the pace of the Sandy strikers, meanwhile Ellie Pickard was producing her best 45 minutes of the season to stem the flow down the left hand flank.

With just 5 minutes of the half remaining Levy won a corner and a great dead ball from Pru was met with a firm header from Cally for a just about deserved lead. Levy Whites looked to take this slender lead into halftime, but with just seconds remaining a combination of a goal keeper spillage and a failure to clear the loose ball saw Sandy equalise.

The second half began with Sandy Ladies very much in the ascendancy and Levy Whites ended up chasing the game and being dictated to. This created a lack of composure when in possession and the ball was too often given away cheaply and it was no real surprise when Sandy took the lead - a free kick was awarded 10 yards outside the penalty area on 58 minutes and the firm shot coupled with a strong wind was enough to see the ball power through Fearnsy's hands for a 2 -1 lead.

Levy continued to huff and puff as the personnel on the pitch were changed several times to try and create that elusive cutting edge. Both Anna and Pru had opportunities to grab the equaliser but it seemed it just wasn't to be Levy's day.

With 7 minutes remaining Sandy began to try and run the clock down and were overheard trying to run the ball in the corners, as Levy ramped up the pressure and at times were camped in Sandy's final third .Again and again the Whites knocked at the door and with just a couple of minutes remaining Emma was thrown up front and had a decent couple of close range shots which were brilliantly defended by the Sandy back line.

Deep into stoppage time, just as the game looked lost, Emily Pimlott was tripped and a freekick was awarded just outside of the left hand edge of the box. With literally the last kick of the game Cally Salter stepped up and smashed the ball into the left hand side of the goal for an equaliser, that was just about deserved on the balance of play over the 90 minutes.

This was a really tough test for the girls and whilst outplayed at times they stuck to their tasks and gave a really committed performance against one of the best teams to visit The Lane this season.

Thanks to Fearnsy for going in goal, and special mentions for Ellie Pickard's defensive performance along with another fine hard working display from Ellen and Cally Salter and Anna Novelli. Player of the match was Leigh Burrows who played a combination of roles at centre back, centre mid and up front and excelled at all of them.
