Leverstock Green Ladies (1) 3 Hollick 2, Coggins
Great Shelford (3) 4
at Pancake Lane

Report by Scott Isaacs

Leverstock Green Ladies were involved in a thrilling curtain raiser to their new season and were unlucky not to secure any points against Great Shelford on Sunday.

Levy Ladies had the worst possible start to their campaign and despite Nic Hollick's first goal of the new season, found themselves 1-3 down by half time due to an inexperienced back line, playing their first game together.

The second half was far more encouraging, with the ladies in green successfully outplaying their opponents to reduce the deficit shortly after kick off, courtesy of a Gemma Coggins goal. Despite continued pressure Levy untypically conceded from a corner, which restored the visitors' two goal advantage. However when player of the match Nic Hollick bagged her second of the game with over 15 minutes still to play, it seemed destined that Levy would at the very least, level the match for share of the points.

Despite Lucy Tape coming close in the dying minutes of the game with two consecutive free kicks from the edge of the Great Shelford box, Levy were unable to convert and gain any reward for a truly spirited performance.
