at The Middlesex Stadium

Leverstock Green collected their first three points of the season as three goals in the last ten minutes turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 win at Hillingdon Borough on Tuesday night.

It didn't look likely that this game would produce four goals after a largely uneventful first half. Leverstock had lots of the ball, and got it forward well, but lack of ball control and the delivery of the final ball let them down in the final third. Timi Salako hit a volley just over the bar on 17 minutes, and Mark Woolley was close with a shot on 26 minutes, but Liam Hind's free kick on 36 minutes produced the only save of the first half as Hillingdon keeper Connor Spaans turned it round the post.

Kieran Jimmy didn't have to make a save until the 50th minute, turning Kieran Gradwell's shot round the post after a ball from Chris May had put him through. Callum Wright was almost presented with a chance on 61 minutes from a short back pass, but instead of taking it on himself Wright tried to find David Sobers, and the chance went away.

The introduction of Louis Bircham on 62 minutes brought an improvement to Leverstock's game, and they had a great chance on 66 minutes when Sobers played the ball across goal to find Salako inside the six yard box, but he snatched at his shot and ballooned it over the bar.

Two minutes later Leverstock were threatening again in the opposition box, but they lost the ball and Hillingdon broke quickly. One ball over the top was enough to put Charlie Conner clear of the chasing defenders, and he ran on to shoot past Jimmy and put his side 1-0 up.

On 71 minutes Woolley had a free header from a corner, but put it over the bar, and it looked like it wasn't going to be the Green's night. Ten minutes later Salako was found in space inside the box, but his shot from a narrow angle was cleared. The resulting corner caused a goalmouth scramble in which Leverstock had several chances to score and Hillingdon had several chances to clear before finally Wright came in and put the ball away for the equaliser.

Leverstock had their tails up now, and two minutes later a crossfield ball found substitute Sledge Mubama, whose ball into the box should have been cleared, but the defender slipped over and inadvertently teed it up perfectly for Wright, who slammed home a shot into the corner of the net to put the Green 2-1 up.

Bircham almost added a third on 85 minutes with a rasping shot that went just over the bar, but on 88 minutes Bircham finally got his name on the scoresheet for the first time as Mubama's ball across goal found him inside the six yard box to shoot home and clinch a decisive 3-1 lead.

Leverstock remain unbeaten from their five competitive games this season, and they face a tough game on Saturday as fellow unbeaten side Hertford Town visit Pancake Lane, kick-off 3.00 pm.
