On a murky, grey afternoon, Leverstock Green Ladies FC began the defence of their Herts County Cup on Sunday, visiting local rivals Garston Ladies FC. Levy continued with their run of poor first half performances, finding themselves 2-0 down within 30 minutes. Levy were somewhat fortunate to reduce the deficit courtesy of lofted cross from Gemma Coggins that was somewhat bundled across the line by Garston's keeper on the stroke of half time.
Levy dominated sections of the second half and deservedly drew level through a wonder free kick from captain Jo Williams but then found themselves behind moments later when Garston's striker broke free and slotted past helpless stand in keeper Andrea 'Chops' Bettridge.
Giselle Randall was unlucky not to score and restore the visitor's lead, hitting the crossbar with her lobbed effort. It took a goal from new signing Lisa Hayhoe, completing her debut game for the club, to once again level the scores, before Lucy Tape sealed the win from the left hand side. Levy had to work hard to contain a sustained effort from Garston during injury time, which mysteriously stretched beyond 12 minutes.
Levy now find themselves in the quarter final and eagerly await to find out the result of the draw, to establish who they will face next.
