Leverstock Green's reserves won their second straight Suburban League game with an excellent second half comeback at Harefield United on Saturday.
The home side took the lead in the 23rd minute as some sloppy play at the back allowed former Green player Prince Alozie to shoot home. Leverstock's best effort of the first half was a shot from Ricardo Ramos in the 27th minute which went just wide.
The management team of Dwaine Bryan and Derek Powell made some changes at half time, and it showed in a much-improved performance. The equaliser came on 51 minutes when a corner from Lewis Craze was headed home by Jide Awonusi.
The Green side were reduced to ten men soon after when Ricky Dash was shown a straight red card, however the sides were evened up later. On 67 minutes Bryan played a ball from the back to Awonusi, who got past defender Benn Gordon to go clean through on the keeper, but he was brought down from behind by Gordon before he could shoot. The result was a penalty and a straight red for Gordon, and Awonusi scored the spot kick himself to put Leverstock into a 2-1 lead.
The Green held on for the win, thanks to a great save from Jordan I'Anson from a deflected free kick on 78 minutes, and a superb goalline clearance in stoppage time from Charlie Price, who chased back to head off the line after I'Anson had been beaten by a header.
Next Saturday the reserves travel to face Sun Sports reserves in the quarter-finals of the Herts Intermediate Cup.
