Leverstock Green's run in the Herts Intermediate Cup is over after their reserves were beaten 3-1 at Sun Sports Reserves in Saturday's quarter-final.

Leverstock had the first effort of the game in the 3rd minute when Lewis Craze shot wide, however a minute later the Green defence was undone by a ball down the middle and Chris Blunden fired Sun into a 1-0 lead.

Craze had another effort in the 13th minute, running onto a pass from Ricky Dash and shooting just over the angle of post and bar, but again it was shortly followed by a Sun goal, with Blunden scoring his 2nd in the 15th minute with an effort that Green keeper Jordan I'Anson should have done better with.

It could have been three on 30 minutes when Sam Clark was clean through, but I'Anson came out of his area to put in a good tackle on Clark. A minute later Craze had his third effort of the game, and his closest yet as he shot inches over the bar from Chad Pinching's pass.

The score was 2-0 at half time, and Sun added the third on 52 minutes with a chip from Curtis Donaldson which I'Anson thought was going over the bar, but instead dipped just under the bar.

Five minutes later Leverstock got themselves back into the game. A ball from Charlie Price put Jide Awonusi through on goal, but he was chopped down by Liam James before he had a chance to shoot. As with last week's game, the foul on Awonusi resulted in a penalty and a red card for the defender, and Awonusi put away the spot kick himself to reduce the deficit to 3-1.

Leverstock had more of the possession for the rest of the game against the ten men, and got into several promsing situations, but couldn't force a serious save out of the Sun keeper, and were unable to rescue the game.

Leverstock Green Reserves: 1. Jordan I'Anson, 2. Zach Marshall, 3. Luke Beaumont, 4. Ricky Dash (14. Papa Domenico 62 mins), 5. Charlie Price, 6. Dwaine Bryan, 7. Luis Almeida, 8. Jonathan Kasongo, 9. Jide Awonusi, 10. Chad Pinching (13. David Bailey 65 mins), 11. Lewis Craze.
