Match report by Tony Smart:
Leverstock Green ended their poor run of results with a superb victory over Hertford Town who were 4th in the Premier Division and had only lost once in the league all season.
The Green made a great start scoring after just 6 minutes. Tommy Walsh made a cross-field pass to Jack Gilmartin who cut inside his marker and squared the ball into the path of Chris Blunden, who opened the scoring for Levy.
It seemed to all go wrong for Levy in the 17th minute after a great tackle by James Budden was deemed to be a foul, Tommy Walsh was sent off in the resulting coming together of both sets of players.
Louis Bircham extended the lead for Levy in the 35th minute. He picked up the ball in mid field and weaved his way past several defenders and slotted the ball into the right hand corner of the goal to give Levy a 2-0 half time lead.
For the first 15 minutes of the second half Hertford piled on the pressure but the Leverstock Green defence and in particular goalkeeper Jordan I'Anson kept them at bay. The game was sealed in the 66th minute when Chris Blunden scored his second goal of the afternoon. Curtis Donaldson laid the ball through to Blunden whose shot at goal was to score.
Leverstock Green raised their game and could have scored with several efforts, two shots hitting the post. Hertford got onto the score sheet with a penalty in the 96th minute after I'Anson was judged to have tripped a Hertford player although he did not touch him. Louis Rose scored from the penalty spot.
This was a great afternoon's football from Leverstock Green who played nearly 80 minutes with 10 men.
