Leverstock Green and Colney Heath shared the points in a relegation showdown on Tuesday night. It was a fair result from a game that was end-to-end, with both sides having near misses, but neither finding the net.

The first half was short on chances, with Leverstock coming closest to scoring. In the 17th minute Ashley Addison spotted keeper Craig Clarke off his line and sent a lob from the halfway line, but was unlucky as the ball hit the post. On 24 minutes a crossfield ball from Lewis Cruwys found Curtis Donaldson, who beat a defender but then saw his shot saved well by Clarke. On 32 minutes Cruwys flicked on a long goal kick from Liam Jahn to Addison, who shot over the bar.

Jahn hadn't been extended in the first half, but in the opening minute of the second half a cross from Jamie Eames found Charncey Dash inside the box, but his shot brought a great save from the Green keeper.

Leverstock went close again on 58 minutes when Addison got on the end of a cross from Ryan Laville with a flicked header which Clarke had to turn round the post. At the other end three minutes later Jay Rolfe got clear of the Green defence but hit his shot wide.

On 65 minutes Leverstock hit the woodwork for the second time when a curling shot from Ollie Buckley hit the outside of the post. Six minutes later Rolfe was through again at the other end but again his shot was off target. In the 84th minute a cross from Buckley found Cruwys right in front of goal a couple of yards out, but his header was straight at Clarke.

Over the closing minutes it was the home side who looked more like scoring as they piled on the pressure, but Leverstock held out to register their second clean sheet in successive games.

For Colney Heath it was a welcome point after three straight defeats, and Leverstock's point means they are nine points clear of the drop zone with ten games to play. The next of those is away to in-form Holmer Green on Saturday.
