London Tigers (1) 2 S.Bettamer 9, Amellal 77
Leverstock Green (1) 2 Laville 5, McCarthy 63
at Avenue Park

Leverstock Green twice held the lead in Saturday's game at London Tigers, and had a number of agonising near-misses, but had to be content with a point from a 2-2 draw, which, considering the club's poor record at this ground over the years, isn't too bad a result.

Just as in Monday's game at Hadley, Leverstock took the lead with an early goal. Dan Griggs curled in a cross from the right, and Ryan Laville did the rest -using his chest to bring the ball down and take it round the keeper before hooking in a shot from a narrow angle.

However, this time the lead only lasted four minutes, as Sufyian Bettamer struck a long-range effort along the ground into the bottom corner to level for the hosts. Bettamer almost added a second on 17 minutes, but he drove a shot against the angle of post and bar.

For the rest of the half, though, it was Leverstock who had the chances. On 18 minutes Griggs had a shot cleared off the line, and five minutes later a free kick from Curtis Donaldson brought a save out of keeper Ravan Constable. Another long-range effort from Donaldson on 33 minutes went just over the angle. On 39 minutes a great pass from Ross Adams put Laville through on goal, but his shot was deflected wide by Constable's trailing foot. Two minutes before the break Constable was caught out of his goal as Ashley Addison took the ball past him, but was then pulled back by the keeper. Constable only received a yellow card for this, and Donaldson's effort from the resulting free kick was again only inches over the target.

Leverstock continued to impress early in the second half. Two minutes in Alex McCarthy's header from Donaldson's free kick looped just over the bar. On 55 minutes Dan Bourne looked set to score as the ball dropped for him six yards out, but although Bourne caught the volley with full venom, Constable pulled off a fantastic save to deflect it over the bar.

Five minutes later Griggs was denied again as he hit a dipping shot that had Constable beaten but was headed off the line by a defender. On 63 minutes there was another free kick opportunity for Donaldson, who spotted that the positioning of the wall and keeper left him a clear shot into the corner. Donaldson drove the ball with full power straight towards this spot only for it to cannon off the post.

However, the rebound was not fully cleared, and seconds later McCarthy was through on goal and lifted the ball over Constable into the net to finally put Leverstock back into a deserved lead.

The lead lasted for longer this time, but not long enough. On 77 minutes Leverstock couldn't clear the ball from their own box, and despite Liam Jahn saving a first effort from Ayoub Amellal, he could do nothing about the rebound as Amellal levelled the scores at 2-2.

That turned out to be the final score, and Leverstock moved a point nearer to their target for safety, but with four of the five sides below them winning on Saturday, they may still have more work to do to reach that target.

Next up for Leverstock is a visit to Kings Langley on Tuesday night in the quarter-finals of the St Mary's Cup.
