Match Report
Saturday 30th April 2016 Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division
Leverstock Green (0) 1 Donaldson 89
Hadley (3) 4 Machedo 1, 40, Chrysanthou 12, Jno-Baptiste 90+2
at Pancake Lane

Leverstock Green's SSML Premier Division status had already been confirmed as safe in midweek thanks to a defeat for Harefield United, which is just as well as the Leverstock side never looked like getting anything out of an excellent Hadley side in Saturday's match at Pancake Lane.

Leverstock had already got a crucial three points out of Hadley with a 1-0 win at Parkfield a few weeks ago, but having not scored against the Green in 90 minutes in that game, it took Hadley just 45 seconds to open the scoring this time. Ivan Machedo was through on goal, and although Liam Jahn saved his first shot, Machedo followed up to force home the rebound.

Hadley had another couple of good chances to score soon after, but it only took them until the 12th minute to add their second goal, Nick Chrysanthou effectively playing a one-two off a Green defender before rifling home a shot from the edge of the box.

It could have been 3-0 on 33 minutes as Zaine Gangadeen put Machedo through on goal again, but Jahn made a brilliant double save to keep out Machedo's shot and his effort from the rebound. However, in the 40th minute Machedo played the ball out wide to Tanasheh Abrahams and continued his run ito the box to meet Abrahams' cross and shoot home the third goal.

Leverstock had barely got a look-in during the first half, but there was something of an improvement in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Luke Warner-Eley - playing on a dual registration with Potters Bar Town - was through on goal but brought down on the edge of the area by former Green defender Sam Lyon, who was yellow-carded. However, Curtis Donaldson put the resulting free kick over the bar.

Hadley were denied a fourth goal on 63 minutes when Laste Dombaxe's shot hit the woodwork, and two minutes later there was a chance at the other end when a pass from Danny Fielding put Warner-Eley in on goal, but Harry Sedgley got across to put in a tackle.

In the 73rd minute there was a chance at each end as firstly Donaldson's shot from a corner was headed off the line by a defender, then Hadley hit the woodwork again with Machedo's header from a corner.

A minute from time Leverstock pulled a goal back through a fine solo run and shot from Donaldson, and Warner-Eley missed a good chance to pull a further goal back a minute later. However, in stoppage time Jermeel Jno-Baptiste broke away to score Hadley's 4th goal and end any hopes of an unlikely comeback.

Leverstock have one game remaining, at home to Cockfosters on Tuesday evening, and will be hoping to avoid ending their season with five straight league defeats.
