Leverstock Green's match at Stotfold on Saturday was abandoned in the 67th minute following a collision which left a player from each side with serious head injuries.

Stotfold forward Ben L'Honore and Leverstock keeper Liam McDonagh were both chasing a ball heading towards the Leverstock goal, and they collided in sickening fashion on the edge of the penalty area. L'Honore was out cold before he hit the ground, although in time it became clear that McDonagh had come out worse from the collision. Both players were on the pitch for an hour before two ambulances arrived, L'Honore was able to walk groggily to his ambulance, while McDonagh was taken on a stretcher, but awake.

The game had long since been abandoned by the referee, with Stotfold leading 2-0. L'Honore had given Stotfold the lead from the penalty spot in the 11th minute, and Charlie Joy shot them into a 2-0 lead on 37 minutes. Leverstock were fighting back in the second half, with home keeper Adam Harpur having pulled off a couple of good saves to keep out shots from Louis Bircham.

Leverstock have now suffered three bad injuries in the last week, after Callum Wright last Saturday and Luke Preedy in midweek. Their next match is on Tuesday night, at home to Sun Sports in the first round of the Challenge Trophy.
