The perfect season was completed today when Levy Ladies won their first League Cup Final to complete a memorable double and a 100% League and cup campaign.

Garston Ladies were no pushovers and on the back of a keenly contested League match in March, they came quickly out of their blocks and were really fired up for the battle, winning the majority of 1st and 2nd ball in the opening 10 minutes.

Gradually Levy Ladies began to get their passing game together on a small hard pitch which really didn't suit their expansive style of play, but with the midfield beginning to click into gear the chances began to be created, with both Leigh and Pru coming close.

On 16 minutes Cally was brought down outside of the penalty area by a clumsy Garston challenge and duly got up, brushed herself down and thumped the free kick into the top left hand corner from 25 yards for a one nil lead and her 42nd goal of the season.

As the half wore on Levy looked increasingly dominant and should have extended the lead further, but for some lack lustre finishing and the half time scoreline was 1 nil.

The second half began much the same as the first with Garston being the more physically aggressive and Levy struggling to create sufficient time and space to move the ball into threatening areas on the pitch, however the lead was doubled on 48 minutes when a superb Cally Salter corner was met on the volley by Frankie Novelli whose shpt hit the post before being touched into the back of the net for top scorer Leigh Burrows 44th goal of the season.

Ellen Salter was a real force to be reckoned with in the 2nd half, producing some excellent crosses from the left hand flank and Chloe Williams showed great composure throughout the match in breaking up play and creating attacking moves with some fantastic distribution play.

Levy began to turn on the style and create a number of opportunities which ultimately culminated in Cally and Ellen Salter combining to set up Pru Squires-Adams to score an opportunist goal on the hour mark. The result was assured just 5 minutes later when Pru bagged her second of the game and her 30th of the campaign with a sublime sweeping shot into the roof of the net.

As is often the case when a team wins, the attacking force gets the plaudits, but Levy's defence had to be at their best to keep a clean sheet and all of the defenders and Shay in goal had fine games and the excellent Emma Wiseman was independently given player of the match for her centre back performance.

This brings the season of all seasons to a close with the girls completing their set of footballing honours, in adding the League Cup to their League title, Chairmans plate and County Cup winners medals - a summer of tournaments now awaits before the new adventures in 2013/14!
